Cilantro Menu

As a middle easterner I love a good schwarma but have been hard pressed to find any local place with decent chummus and we'll made food. Until I found cilantro, their food hits the spot and is made in true middle eastern fashion without compromising quality for quantity. Cilantro is a gem with fantastic schwarma and hummus that are highly recommended. Great service, great food, and a nice atmosphere as well.

This food was delicious and the service was pleasant and friendly! It's a simple place with not a great amount of options, but you really don't need that many because it's all good and the simplicity makes it easier for someone like me who always wants to eat everything on the menu. Unfortunately, I haven't had falafel before and learned today that I am not a fan. However, it still tasted fresh and the portions here are great. Everything else was super yummy. Cilantro is definitely a cute little hidden treasure.

I've been back several times since my first visit. Service had improved and the food is pretty good, too. I love the options in falafel - spicy, chicken, original, and more. We go at least.twice a month.

I'd like to give this place three stars, but the food was so unexpectedly good, I can't. Shawarma and Mediterranean/middle eastern food is my favorite, and I have been chasing down joints all over the city since I ate the best of my life in Malaysia (yup, weird). I drove way out of my way to this place, and I'm glad I made the effort, despite the terrible traffic I encountered trying to get home. They're not going to win any awards for atmosphere or even service, but they're doing good, simple food and doing it right. The young guy at the counter was most polite and friendly, while the guy assembling the bowl was fairly surly and unfriendly, but the food was a win. I got the mixed shawarma bowl, which is lamb and chicken, and whatever you like off the Chipotle style bar of choices. For me, this included rice, eggplant, hummus and babaghanoush, garlic and tahini sauces, cucumber salad, onions with sumac and pickled cabbage. And that wasn't even everything! They said they had good fries, so I ordered those too, but that was before I saw my finished bowl. ..I didn't come close to finishing it and I really, really wanted to! Please go give this place a try, it was pretty slow on a Tuesday night, and I want them to stay open! Can't wait to try the falafel on my next trip.

I've been eyeing Cilantro for months and finally I stopped in to check things out. I'm not a Mediterranean food expert, but since my first visit two weeks ago, I've been here 3 more times! So, needless to say, the food is good! So far I've tried: lamb, hummus, regular falafel, rosemary falafel, baba ghanoush, slaw, fried eggplant, rice, and cous cous. I have yet to find something that I do not like at this place! Each time I visit, I get the takeout. Since I'm not well versed in the cuisine, the menu was a little overwhelming at first. But the staff was SO friendly, informative, and helpful when it came to navigating the menu and offering suggestions. The ingredients are always so fresh and seasoned to perfection. Definitely found a new favorite neighborhood spot! :) Welcome to Owings Mills! Yeah Yeah..I know, I'm late with my welcoming! lol

This is an amazing restaurant. The service is great, the food is assembled quickly and is prepared very well. The portions are quite large and priced rather cheaply. I would describe this place as the Mediterranean Chipotle in regards to the style of service, but the food tastes so much better. My office frequently visits here for lunch and I find it impossible to say no when someone extends an invite to me.

Nicely seasoned and authentic middle eastern food. Friendly staff. Am definitely coming back. Ordered the shawarma combo. Best middle eastern food in Baltimore.

Just ok-- tasted bland to me, I expected more flavor. I wanted to try something new but Hummus Corner is so much better. Sorry guys.

I like Cilantro. I can't ever say that I've left falafel on my plate. Usually I inhale them and then get depressed that I have to finish the rest of the bowl. I think of Cilantro of the Chipotle of middle eastern food - you can customize your bowl and add things you do or don't want. All the toppings were delicious - but the rice didn't look great. Doesn't seem like many people are going for the carbs! Also the desserts were to die for. Holy crap. I'm not sure what I ordered - I got the baklava and some sort of milk pudding with rose syrup. Just get it now. It's in the mini fridge to the right of the counter. GET SOME Service is still figuring out what they're doing. The staff are very friendly but not terribly efficient. I think it'll improve. The only thing is the name - cilantro makes me think it's a Mexican place and it trips me up for a second every time.

As an Israeli that came to travel around the state, i looked for some home flavors, and i can realy say that Cilantro made me feel like home away from home. Great food!! Real mediterranean tastes. Wonderfull service. Falafel got the real texture but an amazing twist with the spacial flavors.

Fresh salads, juicy lamb schwarma, amazing rose-flavored desserts, and falafel flavors that make me swoon with delight: all this in generous portions at a price comparable to fast food!

  • Niran A.

Don't get confused by the name, this is NOT a Mexican restaurant, but rather a Mediterranean restaurant specializing in shwarma and falafel. There are several types of falafel including white bean and rosemary as well as a spicy offering too. All of which are good, but the shwarma is where its at. Usually I don't get excited for chicken shwarma (lamb is my preference), but this is legit. The chicken gets a nice charred crust from the shwarma grill and is always still perfectly tender and juicy. I usually get the shwarma on a plate, which you can choose from various grains, fresh salads and sauce to accompany the meat - sort of similar to Chipotle. The food is very tasty, inexpensive, and a nice change of pace from all the other mundane options in Owings Mills/New Town. The owner is committed to making tasty food and when I spoke to him the other day he was already thinking of ways to improve the menu and food. I'll be back.

I was pysched when I saw this on yelp. Stopped in yesterday and gave it a try. Was not impressed. Only 3 people there and it took me 20 minutes to get take out. The shawarma combo was a plastic container with a bunch of stuffed just piled on top of each other, not worth $10.95. The spicy falafel wrap was not spicy and kind of tasteless and gross. The falafel by itself was pretty tasty and crispy. The rice was a sticky blob. I wish Owings Mills had a halal cart. I will not return.

Excellent food and customer service! The staff is always very friendly and the food is very fresh and tasty! This has become a go to for my fiancé and I. Easily one of our favorite places in the area. You won't be disappointed!!!

I was so excited to try a new falafel/shwarma place in the area. Oh, Tahini's where are you?? We miss you! The food was ok, but the place was smokey, service was slow and overall didn't feel as fresh as promised. They just opened, so it might take them some time to figure out how to run the place. I'll give it a second chance in the future and, if necessary, will update the review.

We stopped in after spotting this new gem on our way to the grocery store. The menu has a good variety of Mediterranean classics like chicken shawarma and falafel and tabouli. We opted for the shawarma and falafel platter which came with rice or fries and all kinds of sides, scoops of salad and tahini. They also included a pice is warned bread on the side. Their falafel a come in several great flavors. We had the roasted red pepper ones which were delicious. I had my 4 year old with me. The one platter was plenty for us and left another meal that we took home. The servers were super family friendly. The food was delicious. The prices are perfect. We will be back!!

This was my first time having Mediterranean food and I loved it! I had the falafel platter, nothing too complicated. I got some Malabi as well and it was really good. I can't wait to come back and try the other desserts and falafel flavors!

There is a wide selection of typical Middle Eastern dishes (falafel, hummus, baba ganoush, tahini, shawarma, etc.) The falafel comes in different flavors to add some variety to the traditional option, but the difference is very subtle- the spicy and traditional falafel didn't really taste any different- it could use a little more spice ( I see this mentioned in another review, and have to agree). The tabouleh was delicious, however some of the other add-ons did not seem fresh. The fried eggplant was oily and not crisp. This could be because we got the bottom of the pan, though. Overall, the food was good, but not delicious. Cilantro has a similar set up as Subway, where you walk down the line and tell the person behind the counter what toppings/sides you'd like with your meal (only difference is you order and pay first, rather than after). This concept is proven to work in many different chains, but it has to be executed productively- which is not that case here. There were three people standing behind the counter, and 4 people waiting to be served. Only one person was working the line, calling people up one by one to make their meals- SLOWLY. Their system doesn't work. The 15 minutes we spent waiting for basic falafel meals should have been 7 minutes tops. I wasn't sure why the two other people behind the counter couldn't start making my bowl as the person in front of me made their way further down the line. On the plus side, this probably meant that they were making each batch of falafels one by one, so they were as freshly made as possible, but this would be a nightmare if they had a line more than 4 people deep. I can't imagine coming in during a lunch time rush. They clearly only look at one order at a time, instead of multitasking. Don't come in here if you have anyone to impress afterwards, or if you're wearing a coat that you don't intend on washing that evening. I'm still wearing the smell of their deep fryers. Having to wash your hair should not be the aftermath of a delicious meal. I did enjoy the meal from Cilantro, but will definitely give them a few months to work out the kinks before going back (in a hat and topless)

Cilantro is delicious and has quickly become one of my favorite places to eat! The prices are reasonable and the servings are generous. I highly recommend dining here because every dish is flavorful and fantastic.

As a previous customer of Hummus Corner and Tahini's I have to say Cilantro has definitely won my heart over when it comes to Mediterranean food. I came in my first time last week and let me tell you, the aroma in the restaurant alone is enough to make you keep coming back for more! The cashier was friendly and extremely helpful when I was taking a look over the menu. Waited a few minutes for my food to be cooked, but as expected since it was the lunch rush and they were packed. I prefer the spicy falafel and it was incredible. Not only that, the cook was extremely nice and told me about each and every topping they had. As expected there are small tweaks they can make to improve overall flow but that's to be expected with a new place. Can't remember such amazing service at a fast paced food establishment. Food is served fresh and all cooked right in front of you. I will definitely be back with my co workers, so glad to finally have a delicious and quality place to get authentic Mediterranean food.

Stopped by today to give it a try. I only got carryout. I had the Falafel platter and it was amazing. I mixed the traditional falafel and the white bean variety. I also tried the tabbouleh, and the baba ghanoush It was all awesome! Now, I have to tell you that this was the first time I've tried any of this stuff. I really liked all of it, a lot, and I'm a falafel fan for life! I couldn't stop eating them! I'd recommend anyone to give it a try. Delish! Try the Tzatiki sauce on everything!

A great addition to the Owings Mills food scene. The falafel was very tasty, and I loved the salads. We tried he desserts and loved them. The place is clean and the service is friendly. Overall, I recommend the place as a good choice for lunch.

This place is bae. Holy schmoly! I got the chicken schwarma. And everything I've ever wanted to put in it or try I placed inside. All meshed together with the tzaki (sp?) sauce and tahini sauce, it was beyond delicious. We also got some falafel, which was crispy and delicious with all its flavors. It's a small town business with amazing intentions. Great ambience in the place too. We'll definitely be back.

  • Olivia C.

Definitely get the falafel platter and since they are all good, go ahead and ask for samples of each! I was told by the extremely friendly staff the hummus is made fresh everyday- yeah, people say this all the time but you can taste the difference. The place is a bit far but it is closer to my alma mater so def. stop in and get your fix :) I hear this place is brand new, can't wait to see what else is in store for cilantro!

Cilantro has quickly become one of family's favorite places to eat. They are fast, friendly, and the shwarmas are delicious gluten free options that my husband, who has celiac, can eat. Personally, I am in love with the traditional falafel and their baba ghanoush, both of which are home-made and fantastically flavorful. I highly recommend a visit to this lovely little restaurant!

  • Sue P.

Came here for the first time yesterday and the food was pretty good. I got the chicken shawarma in a wheat wrap. My only negative critic would be that I wish my food was warmer than it was, but the food had a lot of flavor, so that surpasses that it wasn't as warm as I would like. I would have given it a 5 if the food was warm. But with that said, the food is tasty and I'd recommend giving it a try if you're in the area. The place is clean and people very friendly. New addition the the OM area

So maybe in my other life I was mediterranean? I got the chicken schwarma and OMG the flavor party. So balanced, but so strong and robust and GOOOOD. It has become the "treat myself to soemthing special" place. MMM MMM MMM

Best Mediterranean food in America!!! Check out their flavoured falafel! And don't forget to try their malabi for dessert!

It was good when they first open, now it's bad, not much variety either, and the people that work there are lazy

I just wanted to also add that since my first visit was so great we had Cilantro cater our daughters first birthday party and it was awesome, everyone raved about the food!!!

  • Nela B.

I was looking forward to another (better) Mediterranean spot in the neighborhood. I'm going to have to keep waiting. The food is just all right. The food smells good, but the platter is messy when it's prepared, and the food is boring, bland, and DRY! I have had (and made) better falafel. I ordered the chicken shwarma and tried both the regular and the spicy falafel. The platter simply wasn't worth it. I ended up throwing away most it. A little disappointed. As for the decor, the cafeteria style doesn't make you want to stay for dine-in.

I have been missing real shawarma ever since I came back from visiting Israel and have been looking for a place that has an "authentic" one and I finally found it! This is by far the best shawarma I have had in the states and the most "authentic"... I ordered the chicken shawarma on a wheat pita with hummus, cabbage, tomatoes and a few of the other fixins they had, topped off with Tahini sauce. The wrap was a good size and veryyyy tasty. Highly recommend Cilantro if you like Mediterranean food, especially shawarma (that is the only thing I had there so far). I will definitley be back!

    (5)
  • Lynie H.

Everything is delicious!! You can get chicken shawarma either in sandwhich form or platter form...comes with all these sides like hummus, baba ganoush, fried eggplant, tabbouleh, etc. desserts were great as well...they have baklava, rice pudding, mouses, malaba.

This place is one of my new favorite spots in Owings Mills. The Tahinas that used to be in town was fine but the food at Cilantro is way better. I've never been a fan of falafel. It's usually too dry and flavorless. This place totally opened my eyes to the stuff. The chicken is also very tasty. (That's all I've tried so far) They also put french fries on the wrap. I've never seen that before but it's really good. It's nice to see an owner passionate about his product. He really wants you to love it there and that's refreshing. With all that said, there are some logistic issues that need to be worked out. But, each time I come in, things are tweaked so I know they're working at it. OM is full of chain restaurants. Please come in and support this local spot. It's delicious, and I don't want it to go away.

  • Ian S.

Some of the best falafel I've ever had. Every ingredient is very fresh. My only one complaint is that sometimes they're in a rush and immediately take the falafel out of the fryer and serve it without letting it rest or wiping off some of the excess oil. This sometimes results in a moderately soggy exterior. Doesn't happen every time though, and it's not enough to take off a star for.

    (5)
  • Gal H.

Delicious every time!!!!! White bean falafel is my new favorite and I can never pass up a chocolate mousse for dessert. Staff is friendly and helpful as well!

Great Mediterranean food. I have tried the lamb shawarma. So many other places have pressed meat. They have the real thing. All the sauces and ingredients are delish. Plan to branch out next time (which would be my third visit). Hope they keep it great.

This is one of the best outside of the Middle East food places I have eaten at in the U.S. The staff is polite, the food is awesome, the prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere reminds me of "home". I would definitely recommend this place. They have been around for 6 months and I see a bright future for this location. Enjoy!!

  • Janet D.

I sit here swooning over the my carryout lunch from Cilantro. Everything tastes exactly right. The traditional falafel is as good as I make at home and the smokey roasted red pepper is a REVELATION! Hummus: delicious with no bakingsoda-y taste. Babaganoush: Actually tastes like eggplant. Cabbage: pickled and delicious. I feel like I am back in Israel. The baklava is the best I've had in Maryland (even my own). My only wish is that they should open a location in Columbia!

  • Krista C.

The chicken shawarma had amazing flavor and is very tender. I could have eaten it alone, but who can resist all the add ins like hummus and cucumber salad!

Ordered the Shawarma Falafel combo. Lots of food, and everything was delicious. Make sure you save room for dessert, the Malabi was awesome!!!

OK, here goes The food is pretty good. Def just a 3 or maybe just under The menu is EXTREMELY confusing Take a look at the website or yelp pics and you will see what i'm talking about I go to Hummus corner all the time. You get the falafel appetizer and you get 4-5 falafel, hummus, baba ganoush, tahini, a salad and pita It took me 10 minutes to explain what i wanted They kept asking me about toppings and this and that and said if i ordered it sep it's would be over $20 I finally got a plate with a few sections in it and got a tiny scoop of baba, a tiny scoop of hummus, a salad and 4 falafel. No pita bread for the dips and no tahini. It was way less food than hummus corner. WAY LESS It was decent, but i'm going to get a plate from there and a plate from hummus corner and give it a taste test I'm pretty in love w/hummus corner They need to make a very simple combo platters where peope who have never tried that food can have like 4 items The one good point is they have LEGIT Shawarma. Meaning that they take hunks of meat and fat and lay them on top of one another, not that brown football meat that is the usual case. I don't know another place around here who does that I'll try it again, but they need to make their menu way less complicated

Went in a few hours ago and ordered myself a delicious chicken kabob. Grilled relatively quickly and tasted better than most kabob places around the area I've had in recent memory. Atmosphere wasn't high end but the bill for this type of restaurant. Def will be coming back!

  • April S.

Awesome!!! Its been so long since i have had some good falafel and hummus! Especially in this area. The last place was Tahina's and when they closed, my heart was broken. I can't wait to go back again!

Excellent, authentic Middle Eastern food at a reasonable price. They are willing to mess around with the menu day to day, so you might get a surprise, but you won't be disappointed.

-Decent number of options -So many side dishes with one order -Food doesn't taste that great -Fries especially are not good !
